Eco-Tourism on Norfolk Island

Now, this is something to celebrate!

Norfolk Island has recently commissioned a pure EV rental fleet of 2 wheelers to promote eco-tourism with a good reason for why. Norfolk Island is a stunning and remote 36 square kilometre moped paradise with a laid-back atmosphere and a maximum speed limit of 50km/h with loads of amazing places to explore. And explore is what we did with Bartons Motor Group ambassadors Darren Lehmann and Michael Kasprowicz who came along with us for the ride on the Duo. We took in the sights, tackled winding roads, dodged cow pats and climbed mountains without challenge, emissions or noise.

But there is more to the story than just the pleasure of riding around this island paradise. Norfolk Island is working towards 100% renewable energy by 2024 in an ambitious project that shows what it truly means to become sustainable. We are proud to be a part of that plan! Riding around the island knowing the electrons powering this electric moped came from the sun and the wind is pretty cool.

Additionally, import times and costs can be challenging when living in remote locations such as Norfolk Island. With no requirements for fuel with our mopeds (that is why we call ourselves Benzina Zero), it negates the challenges and expenses of liquid fuels in remote locations. Plus, with significantly fewer mechanical components, maintaining our mopeds is far less labour and time intensive than a petrol moped equivalent.

Wherever we rode on the island, the Duo was a massive hit with the locals and tourists! A new conversation started every time we stepped off the electric mopeds.

There are so many people to say thank who have made this possible. Firstly, to the Norfolk Island Regional Council. Your vision for a sustainable island in every sense of the word, is remarkable. A big thank you to our head tech, JT, for the expert assembly of a fleet of 20 Benzina Zero Duo's. To Bartons Motor Group ambassadors Darren and Michael, you both took everything in your stride with a tight schedule, content to film and mopeds to ride. Finally, a massive thank you to Rachael Frame and the team at EVMoto Brisbane, part of Barton’s Motor Group who worked tirelessly to facilitate the best outcome for their client.
